Originally from Honduras, Central America. My art draws on my heritage as a Third World man, my culture as Latino, my experiences and activism. I use art as a tool for social change and popular education and information. I believe, art is a means of expressing broader social and political themes and experiences in a medium that is accessible and easily understood by all. In this way, art serves as a tool for overcoming barriers of exclusion. I use the human body and elements of nature to convey these themes. My professional experiences have also enriched my art and artistic expression. I studied Fine Arts in my native country; Restorations of Cultural Assets in Mexico DF through a scholarship of Merit offered by The Organization of American States. I represented Honduras in International Graphic Art Material forums. In Honduras I worked on a National health and literacy campaign in coordination with The World Health Organization. I have coordinated the production of all manner of promotional materials; organized art related activities and taught art to adults and teenagers. My art activities also include exhibiting in local galleries in Toronto, Canada. In short, I have become aware of the detrimental effects of racism, sexism and classism, and the need for training and education to overcome these barriers.Read more
