Even as a toddler (Born in 1972 in Kortrijk) I did nothing but drawing, preferably on surfaces that drove my parents crazy, such as wallpaper, tables, chairs. So, as a last resort, they sent me to art school. In the end I saw my dream come true and I studied as an illustrator at the Sint Lucas School of Arts in Ghent (Belgium). When I start illustrating, the boundaries between dream and reality blur. I start from a story, but soon I get lost in my own world. I get my ideas from the people I meet. They are an inexhaustible source of inspiration, everyone is unique and is a potential extra in one of my drawings, and not necessarily as a human being, often they are also the inspiration for a certain animal. My favorite places to hang out are cafes, markets and strange neighbourhoods. There you see the strangest people, you hear stories, you experience the strangest adventures. My studio is therefore located in a working-class neighborhood close to a medium-sized city. Here every day is an audition of people, each one of them provides me with material to use in an illustration.Read more
