Gian Alfonso Pacinotti GiPi
Gian Alfonso Pacinotti Comic book author and director, Gipi (1963), has attracted the attention of the Italian and European public since the end of the nineties. He focuses his work on a pictorial research that leads him to express himself with various techniques, also using oil painting and watercolor, while now almost all the authors of Italian and foreign comics use digital graphics. He emerges in the Italian comics scene for a profound synthesis between the great narrative ability and both descriptive and expressive realism. With its original and innovative style, it imposed itself in a few years by winning numerous prizes until it was consecrated in 2006 with the "Goscinny" award and as "best book" at the Festival International de la Ban- de dessinée d'Angouleme, the only Italian after Hugo Pratt and Vittorio Giardino. The graphic skills and the extraordinary ability to analytically describe environments and characters are also evident in the illustrations for Don Camillo. His interpretation of feelings, emotions, the atmosphere is truly extraordinary, to the point of not making it possible, except in a few cases, to attribute the design to a particular story.Read more
